He was summer

As warmth's voice grows weaker,
And night's soft call gets ever sweeter -
My day seems eternal
For the light which takes over
Illuminates in the form
Of light brown eyes,
Creased at the corners
Like pages of a well loved book.
Your laugh, warm rays which foil
Midnight's stone cold intentions.
With a smile to rival
Stuffy August afternoons.
Melting down my guard
With each playful joke.
I am ice cream in your hands.
Jackets, blankets, gloves
Abandoned at the back of my closet.
Items with little use.
You look at me and it
becomes summer indefinitely -
With you in my life,
I will never grow cold.
And shy Sun hides in shame
As your days fail to end.
