I'm afraid

I'm afraid that one day,
You won't look at me the same way-
That the fire in your heart
Becomes replaced by
Unstirred piles of ash.
And waking up next to me
Each morning becomes more and more
Like a chore, a routine you can't quit.
I'm afraid that you'll fall out of love
Whilst my fondness grows stronger.
And the emotions of the past
Fading fast like ink in water.
And if this day should arise
Know that I would do it all again,
Fall in love all again.
Just to have you look at me again
The way you used to.
For I would gladly spend eternity
Elated, a starry eyed wanderer
Forever chasing this fleeting feeling.
