I liked you first.
And in my childish way
I grant it unfair that someone else
Should get to be the receiver
Of that smile.
That their days be filled with you
Whilst mine go without.
And I am jealous
That your eyes should see
Anyone other than me -
That I'm not on your mind,
Oh! how you plague my thoughts.
And to think you should laugh
On words that belong to another
Hurts me in imaginable ways.
So, this is a simple poem
For a simple request -
I'm selfish, you see
I wish you were mine
And mine only.
